Word For 2014: Completion

My word for 2014 is
COMPLETION

This vintage farm table is one of the few
projects I completed in 2013.

Truth be told, I probably spent 2 years
getting it done!

I hope you're like me, or else you probably
think I'm sloooooow...

Picking paint color is my nemesis.

This little table has been many colors.
In fact, I painted it French Grey
then decided to paint it white
BUT...
the grey looked so good with the white
that I left the inside grey.

Whew...Done!

Now the only thing left in this room
is to decide on a new paint color (uh-oh)
for the walls, to match the new carpet.

And paint it.

But I do have a year.

COMPLETION...
easier said than done.

Happy New Year!

  1. Rivercrest Cottage,
I have a vintage sewing machine cabinet that has been "waiting" to be made pretty for many years! "Mr. Ed" despises painting perfectly good wood, but thinking that 2014 is time for it's complete make~over!!!
You have, completely, inspired me today, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  2. Lack of completion is the reason that I rarely even start painting projects. I really don't like to do them but they do add so much more character to our homes. So right now I have two doors out of my Dad's 104 year old house waiting for some love. Completion is a great idea!

  3. Oh, I'm right there with you. If you only knew the things that have been on our "to do" list over the last several years! However, they are on there because I'm not the one who can complete them. I have to rely on someone else. That's why they won't leave my list! I strive to get done whatever I can when I don't have to rely on someone else. I like your little table. Grey and white is a favorite color combo of mine.

  4. I love the gray and white combination. I'm glad you left it two-toned. It's a darling table and it looks like you did a wonderful job painting it. You are not the only one who has trouble picking paint colors. It's difficult for me too. Happy New Year to you as well.

  6. Completion is great, I like your sense of humor at the end of the post that you have a year.

  7. Yes I'm like you, I get all excited with the raw piece and then overwhelm myself with the possibilities. Take for example the dresser sitting in my hall, it's stripped, and covered with a table cloth at the moment, I really want to do something funky, but feel guilty painting a nice piece of wood. So completion is my "word" of the year. Love your little table, You did good!

  8. Oh...that's very very cute! I have pieces of furniture that have been waiting years to be painted. Love this piece. I go around looking for furniture missing drawers cause they are cuter without. I have not found MY piece yet though.
