You would need to screw them on because anything you put on that narrow shelf would simply fall off when you move the island. If you decide to put a paper towel or decorative towels from the sides of your shelves and there is no where to screw in a a bar, a tension bar might work. I like the idea of cookbooks facing forward, with a tension rod to hold them in. But you could also have Wild Bill put some shelf brackets and add some additional width to the shelves. The words over your stove top would have to be something special, but it would look good, like maybe Bon Apetit, Good Job.Irenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15171389134207433317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2173691505669853688.post-52699015501829326672014-08-18T18:12:05.148-05:002014-08-18T18:12:05.148-05:00Adding the wheels to your island was the perfect i...Adding the wheels to your island was the perfect idea! It looks great. For those narrow shelves I would line up drinking glasses, and for the space above your stove you could put the word EAT or a small quote like the JRR Tolkien one you have in your about me section from your blog. Possibly adding a wood flat bar across each shelf so spices stay in place when moved. Like a book holder. I would almost leave that area plain since it is so pretty but... you could screw in some tea cup-like hooks on top of the nook and hang utensils in the open slots or a nice looking spice set but you would need to place a dowel across to keep them safe...
