Pottery Barn 3-Tier Tray

A while back I finally bought Pottery Barn's 3-tier tray. I had been slobbering over that PB page for quite a while. It looked so good in the catalog.

Not sure I really like it in person. It maybe seems too new? I'm thinking of using some stain to make it look a little older.

I've since seen a lot better looking tiered trays made by various bloggers using old trays or plates, wooden posts or parts of lamps, and various screws.

Next time I think I would make one instead of buy one. How about you?

  1. I'm sorry you're not happy with your purchase. I think it's pretty cool, although I'm not sure I'd have room for it. Try to enjoy.

  2. Try some chalk paint? Rough it up? leave it outside and let it rust a little--:o) (gasp).
Thanks for visiting my post. I look forward to following you!

  3. Oh my gosh, your eldest grandson randomly read this post and was hysterical telling me that grandma bought a "tired" tray from Pottery Barn and that her new tray looked "too new" and then he almost collapsed when you said you were going to stain it to make it look older. Oh, youth.

  5. Me too, I'd rather make one than buy. I want to have it according to my specification. And, its a playing time too.

  6. I think it looks great but I know the feeling. I eye something for awhile, finally buy it, and then I'm not as excited about it as I thought. I'm sure you will think of something incredibly creative to do with it - even though I think it looks great!! anything would look great in that wonderful kitchen!!

  7. I love Pottery Barn stuff, but sometimes it's more for inspiration.

  8. I'm going to try aging some zinc with toilet cleaner - I have two brands, and was going to do it today, but went shopping with my daughter instead. I'll post about my results when I'm finished. It's a great shape and all, so maybe the toilet cleaner and a little stain will get you the patina you love!
