The Mind Wanders...

I've been Missing In Action lately. Actually, I've been around to read your posts, but just couldn't find my speaking voice.

Expected more good news when Wild Bill got the results of his recent PET Scan last week, but it was not so good. Kind of took the wind out of our sails.

It wasn't for a lack of prayers! You've all been so kind with your hopes and prayers for us. We appreciate each and every one of you. Please keep praying -- we will be giving it a good fight and hope to find a better cancer treatment in the near future.

We have been preparing to put the house up for sale. After losing both Bill's parents this past year it feels like our tie to Texas is gone so we are planning to leave the state.

Change has become harder as we grow older. It seemed staying put for 8 years was for his parents, but now I'm not so sure. Did we just become complacent? I think so!

Our number one goal use to be finding a small town that we both could enjoy. Now our goal is finding the best treatment for Bill. Nothing else seems to matter.

Thanks for dropping by!

    1. No, the house move is the most important. Need to move to another state that has much better treatment centers. Need a center that treats the whole person. Bill's first doctor was great, but he left for Kansas after the first few months and the replacement doc just seems to be struggling.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband Bill. I went through the cancer journey with my sister and can imagine what you are going through. Try to take one day at a time if you can. I am so happy to have found your blog and will be following along to see how you are doing, even if you lose your voice for awhile. Hugs, Cheryl

  5. I am very sorry you did not get good news. I will continue to pray for good health and recovery.
Change is very hard. Yes, we become complacent as we get older - just set in our ways. It is tough.
God bless you both and may you find the best treatments available. Have you looked into Cancer Centers of America? I hear they are excellent.
    God bless.

    1. Cheryl, Cancer Centers of America is our top pick and we are going to check them out in the near future. Also Northwestern and Loyola and a few others appear to be great treatment centers too. Just need to get moved closer to where they operate.

  6. It is hard to know what is the right thing to do sometimes---the right place to go at the right time--the right decisions to make over hard choices.
I hope you are able to find good treatment for Bill that will give him a fighting chance to beat cancer---or at least stop its continuing assault on his body. We have been in your shoes---and I am praying for a miracle for you. xo Diana

    1. Di, we were warned by an alternative treatment doctor that Bill saw after the oncologist took him off chemo for 3 months when it appeared the cancer was mostly gone. The alternative doc said cancer cells can hide out and come back stronger than ever after chemo treatment. Wish we would have listened to him and pursued a larger treatment center for a second opinion. At least now we understand more now and will pursue better treatment in a bigger clinic.

  7. Your poor heart must be so tender right now. What a year you have had. You are wise to seek a home close to treatment. I hope you are able to make the move with as little stress as possible, and find the very best place for Bill's care. So many friends have had serious health issues in recent years and have come through them with good results--two actually beat brain cancers. Adding my prayers and sending good energy to you both. Wrapping you in loving thoughts.

    1. He turned it around once for Bill. We are confident it will clear up again. Just need a more competent doctor. Bill asked to change doctors last October, but there are only two here and then he started getting better. A friend has been through it 3 times and is doing well.

  9. It hard to figure out when it is the right time to go. I love living in a quaint little town with a little cottage home. So much easier to care for. I hope you will figure out the right place for both you and Bill to settle. Sorry about his PET scan results. I hope they come up with a great treatment plan. Prayers still will continue from me.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  21. So sorry to hear this....Sending prayers...My nephew who is also fighting a hard fight did not get good news...His tumors in the liver and colon have increased in size in spite of several rounds of chemo. He is being seen at Sloan Kettering which is one of the top Cancer treatment centers on the east coast. They are now going to get him into clinical trials...He is only 46 years old and his daughters are 9, 14 and 17 years of age. It breaks my heart....
Thanks so much for stopping by with everything that you have going on . Especially with the move.....
Many Hugs to you and your dear hubby,
    Debbie

  25. I am so sorry to hear about Bill. You asked about selling your house. When we downsized, we put everything that was personable into storage. Photos of family, my husband is a hunter, so all mounts put away, no stacks of magazines. Nothing on the kitchen counters (nik-nacks), and put coffee pot, toaster, away. always have Pretty towels in the bathroom, organized closets, and just made sure everything was clean, clean, clean. I wish you the best of luck selling your home. It certainly is BEAUTIFUL...You both are in my prayers.

    1. Thank you Bonnie. Appreciate the advice. I'd planned on buying new hand soap dispensers, but hadn't thought of new towels...duh! Your advice is appreciated and helped me start seeing it thru a buyer's eyes. I'm actually storing the toaster and giving away the coffee maker as I don't drink coffee and Bill only drinks it when we eat breakfast out. I also like the idea of storing the photos in storage. You really helped me focus!
