A Post From The Edge

I'm still here! Trying to knock off that dust and get back to normal.

Our life is quite topsy-turvy right now. We've ping-ponged our way from Texas -- to Illinois -- to the area around Memphis, back to Illinois and now headed back down to the Memphis area this weekend!

Wild Bill has an appointment with a doctor specializing in his type of cancer, and we are very hopeful the new clinic will be able to bring about a miracle...or maybe just better treatment...we'll take either.

Monday afternoon is his first appointment, so I'll be back next week to let you know how it goes. You've all been so wonderful with your prayers and hopes for us! We appreciate you all so much.

There's a special angel, the blogger you know as NanaDiana, who has been my port in the storm so to speak. She's been a rock when I needed a breather, she's been a counselor when I faltered, but most of all she's been my "sister-friend" who has gone before me in this journey of hope for our husband's. Diana always has a kind word and experience to share. Thank you so much Diana!

Some people wonder why this dumb bear picture means so much to me. I gave away a lot of things that were dear to me, but not this old picture!

The bear is a reminder of an old saying:

Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

You might think me crazy to give away so much, but keep the dumb bear picture -- Well, remembering there's always a chance of succeeding gives me strength, even when it feels like the bear has us by the throat some days.

Thanks for dropping by!

    1. Joy, thank you for pointing out how wonderful it is to have help along the way. We have truly found no strangers, just people we needed to meet along the journey.

    1. Cathy, the house sold quickly (faster than I had hoped actually) and we are on a journey seeking better treatment for Bill and a new hometown for us both.

  6. I know that it is a very long way for you to go but I live near City of Hope, a world respected cancer treatment and research center here in Southern California. They sometimes even provide housing for patients and family. Perhaps it is worth your looking into.

I send my thoughts and prayers that you will find just what you are looking for and it is successful. Keep safe.

    1. La Vie...sounds like a great place and thank you for giving them a shout-out, but we are seeking a permanent change of our life. Bill's parents were what was keeping us in Texas as we were dreaming of the Tennessee area for a long time. With the loss of Mom in June 2018 and Pop following her to Heaven in Nov, we had nothing keeping us there anymore. We have no regrets.

  15. Ann,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Sending prayers that you find the right treatment for your husband. My nephew is going through the same thing. He is now on a different course of chemo since nothing seemed to be working. It breaks my heart especially when i look at his beautiful daughters who are 10, 14 and 17 years old....His wife is a rock for their family and i have no idea how she is surviving this...Prayers being said for you and your family!
    Hugs,

  18. Sharon, what a sweet post. I think about you and Bill a lot and wonder how things are going. Hope you two find the perfect place, I really do. Keep the bear painting. I've been wrapped up in that newest issue of The Cottage Journal, again! There is a beautiful cabin featured. Now I want our porches fixed up like theirs. :( I am reminded of you every day too because of these magazines that stay on the coffee table. Love and best wishes to you and Bill.
