Posts To Inspire Your July 4th Decorating

I was stumped this year for ideas to decorate so
I looked up some old ideas from previous
years to get inspired.
Apparently I was focused on the kitchen
and chalkboards last year...
I'm really going to have to learn to write
something on the chalkboards besides
Happy 4th!

I used that same snappy phrase for 2013 too:

Back in 2012, I was all about the chickens
and flags...
That was before we hung the TV over the mantle.
I think I want my mantle back for decorating!
These pictures made me realize I'm not
much of a July 4th decorator, so I checked
out some blogs for ideas.

Over at Let's Add Sprinkles blog, Katie
showed how to make bunting with a table
runner from the thrift store:

At Karen's Up On The Hill, I learned I can do
more with those Dollar Store flags than stick
them in flower pots (duh)

(Karen's Up On The Hill)

Karen used a little flag and some iron-on to make
a knock-off Potterybarn pillow...
And if that wasn't cute enough, she replaced
pictures in frames with the little flags too!

Hurry over to Karen's and Katie's blogs to
get the full details:

Thanks for dropping by!

The Dedicated House's Anything Blue Friday

  1. I'm not a big decorator for any of the summer months, because I'm a fall and winter person. I throw out my obligatory "summer" pieces and let it ride until September 1st...the official start of fall in my household! :-)

  2. I really like the flag sewn on the throw pillow and in the picture frame. Those are great ideas. I'm on the way to visit those blogs now. Enjoy the holiday... :)

  3. Rivercrest Cottage,
I adore your chalkboard message. . .especially with Chez Swine!!!
I do agree that Karen's framed flags are fabulous!!!
    EnJOY your Fourth of July!!!
    P.S. Here's a new message for your chalkboard. . .
    "Let Freedom Ring"!

  4. I love your chalkboard, and rooster.

  5. Thanks for the feature. You are so sweet.

  6. I liked when you said you were stumped because that is how I am feeling right now. We have family arriving tomorrow and I have one cabinet in the living room that is just not looking right to me. I am browsing blogs to get an idea.

  7. I didn't decorate this year.
Well, I'm not too big on decorating for holidays.
Seems like I have grand ideas and then I wait too long to do it, and then it seems like it's no longer worth the effort.
I used to have a little white picket fence around my front yard and once I I attached little flags all along it for the upcoming Fourth of July. But sadly I came home and found them laying on my steps, their little wooden posts broken.
The lady that walks her schnauzer past my house several times a day stopped and told me that she had placed them there after finding them on the sidewalk broken.
It made me sad and kinda angry too.
And then the next year I had taken down the fence so...
    Anyway, HAPPY FOURTH!

    1. Cynthia, I feel exactly the same. Last year I wrote "Happy 4th" on the kitchen pig and it was still there when I put up Halloween decorations! Hope you saved those flags with broken posts...they would work on pillows and in frames now.

  8. Those are wonderful ideas! I'll have to remember these for next year -- thanks for sharing! :)

  9. I'm a bit behind with my blog reading, just back from vacation. I hope you had a wonderful 4th!

  10. Just wanted to say hello to a fellow Texan! Glad you had a great holiday. I'm in the DFW area ~ are you close? :)

  11. I agree it is all so pretty. I especially love the pillow! It is something I plan on making soon!
