It hit me recently that I love a
dramatic look.
dramatic look.
Like...black and white dramatic!
With a little touch of gold-ish brown.
With a little touch of gold-ish brown.
I'm not kidding about the black.
I would love black walls like the ones
in these old pictures. I think they're
from an old issue of the magazine,
Better Homes and Gardens...

It looks like I would need white floors
to pull off the black wall look.
Our kitchen has a sort of white floor.
Maybe I could paint the back wall
below the one cabinet black?
There are wonderful "house" pictures
over on the blog, Hooked on Houses.
Here's the house from the movie,
Something's Got To Give

trim across the wall above the window,
then paint the wall white below the trim.
And, in my kitchen, before I paint that
back wall black, I could add shelf
brackets under the glass cabinet...
Just like they did in the movie
kitchen...
More projects.
It's so fun to dream!

ReplyDeleteI like the dramatic look also, but it doesn't fit with my little cottage style.
I am not liking the thought of black walls, not unless it was a very large room with windows!
ReplyDeleteI agree that black and white can look very chic together if you get the proportions right. I recently pinned this bathroom that I think is a good example of classic black and white: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/99853316712156355/
ReplyDeleteI love that black wall on the wall with all the french doors.
ReplyDeleteRivercrest Cottage,
ReplyDeleteHm~m~m. . .another one for the project list, dear one!!!
"Mr. Ed" & I toured Mary Carol Garrity's home in Atchison, KS and her dining room walls are a deep Navy Blue!!! Gorgeous!!!
I'll be watching to see if black walls make your "to~do" list!
By the way, you have a beautiful kitchen! "Sigh"!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I'd love to see you do all that. I want to paint my living room eggplant. But I'm sure I'd find it too dark, in spite of it being the sunniest room in the house. I've been thinking black and white too, only with RED . Good luck, and happy painting.
ReplyDeletewe are just about to take the plunge and paint hub's office all black...I can't wait to see how it goes!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the dramatic too! And "Something's Gotta Give" Is my favorite movie not only for the actors but also for that gorgeous house!!
ReplyDeleteI love that movie set house too. Beautiful vignette!
ReplyDeleteSherry
