Knobs, Mission Accomplished

The coffee table finally got her knobs back. New knobs that is.
The last time she got a chalk-paint face lift, I used her knobs for another project. I kept meaning to get around to distressing her a little more and applying dark and clear wax, but something always came up.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems the chicken always disapproved of the knobless decor.

The coffee table sat naked for quite some time while I played with idea of filling in the knob holes and painting numbers on each square before I waxed her.
Finally, after more months than I care to say, I admitted to myself that she really needed some knobs while I ponder how much more torture she can take.
It took me just two minutes to find the knobs and two minutes to screw them in by hand.

The chicken seems happier and that's all that matters. Now that the knobs are back on, I think I'll skip the numbers idea. Now I have to find the dark wax...
How about you? Do you have a little job that's been bugging you for months? I challenge you to get it done.

Thanks for dropping by!

  3. Impressive, it really does look good.

  4. Congratulations on completing your project. And yes, I DO have one or one hundred things to complete :)

  5. Your table looks great, and I love the chicken adorning your table. I have a weakness for chickens and roosters. I hope that you have a wonderful day!!!

  6. that's quite a challenge. Not sure I can comply at the moment. I NEED to paint my work room, and put a floor down, and I'm doing everything I can to not do it. Love your knobs, I have a silver dresser (that I painted silver) and always thought I'd put glass knobs on, well, can't find any I want to pay that much for... so knobless she sits.

  7. Rivercrest Cottage,
Your table looks amazing with the black knobs, dear friend!
I do have a little job that's been bugging me for months! I purchased the supplies just 3 weeks ago! I accept your challenge, dear friend! Photos to follow!

    1. Pat, glad someone got inspired by my 4 minute job. Will be looking forward to your pictures and post. Amazes me how something so easy could take so long to get to! Thanks for commenting.

  8. Hi Sugar, I'm Anne. I'm new here, found you through Amaze Me Monday link party. And I don't know where to start. I love your name, I love your coffee table, I love your chicken, but most of all I love your motto!! I might have spit a little wine out when I read it. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful day, and I hope to see you over at my blog at some point at

    1. Thanks Anne. Glad you're here. I hope you used that wine to polish the table a little. No sense wasting it after all. I am hopping right over and hope others will too.

  9. Those knobs are the perfect little detail to finish it off.

  10. The knobs are perfect Sharon, and the antiquing is the perfect touch.

I'm new here and simply had to stop by when I saw your comment over at Cindi's blog about your granddog. I have a granddog that is the love of my life, but unfortunately he lives in Singapore :(. Nevertheless, I dread the day when he will have to leave this earth. I looked for a possible post about your loss but couldn't find it. I hope you don't mind my mentioning it here. My sympathies. Our fur babies and truly the lights of our lives, and it's so very hard to say goodbye.

  11. The knobs are a perfect finishing touch, well done. My own pile of unfinished is threatening to take over the house :-(

  12. The knobs look great, the chicken is right they belong their... Happy Wednesday with love Janice

  13. Love the way this coffee looks! I am about to embark on my first chalk paint project on a small table. Hope it comes out as nice as yours.

  14. I can totally relate! If I made a list of those things, it would make feel so lazy. LOL

Love the knobs on small drawers, it's adding a certain punch or drama to it. Glad the chickie likes it too...:-)
