Have you ever loved something, but no matter how you try it just doesn't work for you?
That's how I feel about this sweet vintage cabinet...
I thought about painting it several times, but it's a lot of work to do that with all the little nooks and crannies.
Here's a picture of it in the shop where I bought it years ago.
We have quite a few other cabinets, so I put the little cabinet up for sale on Craigslist the other day and it sold that day.
It was fun to dress it up for different occasions, but we're planning on selling our house in the next year so reducing "stuff" is what's happening around here.
All the glass in the door, front, and sides would have made it hard to move any distance so it was the obvious choice when it came to reducing cabinets.
Happy Mother's Day this year to all you ladies out there!
Thanks for dropping by!

It is a beautiful cabinet and I'm sure someone was delighted to have it! It's not the sort of thing you find in Ikea is it? :D
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty but I can see how it needs just the perfect spot...hopefully, it will find that with in its new home.
ReplyDeleteI see things all the time that I love but just can't find a place for, even in the garden I find myself wandering around with a new plant trying to find a place to put it. LOL
We had to get rid of so much when we moved as we were downsizing. Not easy to get rid of possessions you love but so worth it when you find the hoe of your dreams and move.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you. I have a cabinet not unlike yours and should we Down-size, and we shout, it's one of those pieces that should go even though I love it.
ReplyDeleteIt’s such a pity you had to sell it. Happy Mother’s Day. We had Mother’s Day in March.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely cabinet and I'm not surprised it sold right away.
ReplyDeleteI've been purging since January of 2016. The first year was easy - I just needed to make time to go through thing. 2017 was harder because it was the year of giving away things that had meaning, but I didn't love. It was difficult to give away my grandmother's china, but no one in the family wanted it either. It felt good to have less clutter and I have never regretted it.
And now finally in 2018 I am giving away things I love, but just don't have space for. I have a few things I love that don't really fit anywhere in the house so they are going to my sister next week.
Oh my goodness I had a cabinet like that too - it was also yellow - sadly we had to part ways!
ReplyDeleteI am getting much better at letting things go. I have found that finding new things is fun so I now have a rule that if I bring one thing into my little apartment then I have to let at least one thing go.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it didn't work for you. It is a cute cabinet. I have never tried selling on Craig's List. I should give it a try sometime.
ReplyDeleteKatie, Craigslist sends emails back and forth using a number. That way your email doesn't show. You can arrange to meet in a public place, like a gas station or store. We have had a lot of luck and have been able to reduce a lot of things that I just don't want to donate due to costs.
DeleteI am not surprised that it sold immediately! Yes. I have furniture and rugs that went to a couple of sisters, but I still have stuff in storage from when I had a large home. I've purged but need to restart.
ReplyDeleteI am having a hard time letting go of my late mother's stuff. I have found it easier to let go after I take a picture of it; now it leaves me space for the stuff I love.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you're going through. I have so many family things that I feel I must keep.
DeleteThank you for your kind compliment Holly. I try to leave a special appreciation when I visit blogs as I know how much time goes into posts.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely cabinet, I can see why it sold right away. I understand about letting it go. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
